Arts + The loss of the Titanic and a Wiltshire Family Wednesday 19 November 11-12.30. Kings Arms Melksham
Our next Arts + event draws on the expertise of Lieutenant Commander Geoffrey Carr to deliver a fascinating account of the loss of the Titanic and its impact on one Wiltshire family.
Over one hundred years since she sank on her maiden voyage, RMS TITANIC continues to intrigue and fascinate us. Yet many of the stories about the ship contain errors and speculation that do not do justice to the ship's design, and few combine the technical aspects with the social history of a family that actually took passage in the ship.
Geoffrey’s lecture 'The Loss of the TITANIC and a Wiltshire Family - Some Mysteries and Myths' has been a highlight of the Melkshan History Society’s lecture programme and has been presented to hundreds of organisations from Plymouth to Thurso.
The illustrated lecture intertwines the lives of a family from Melksham with the design detail of one of the worst shipping disasters in history.
